Fact Book One of the activities of the center is the yearly publication of a Fact Book on the aviation industry. In this respect our intention is to make a substantial body of relevant statistics (either collected from other sources or independently obtained), together with a series of comments and interpretations, available to all people with some interest in the field. We are conscious that even the more exhaustive data collections and the best informed data analyses do not necessarily provide simple and undisputable solutions to the multifarious set of complex problems that both managers and policy makers come across when engaged in their daily activity. Rather, and more modestly, we think that collecting and analyzing data can help to avoid judgments and decisions in glaring contrast with what data and related analyses should be taken to suggest. Other research projects will be pursued in the next few years concerning airlines (Vertical integration in the air transport industry: what about if airlines begin to acquire airports?; Long period sustainability of low cost business model; Passengers air transport as a mass phenomenon; Opportunities for niche markets in the air transport industry) and airports (European scheme of airports classification: comparative analysis of the existing situation in the various countries and its economic and financial results; National regulations: Does it make sense to apply the same rules to all?; Italian airports: How much investment is needed to warrant demand of mobility and safety?; Competitiveness between airports: How to define their district?).
